For the Investec Cape Town Art Fair 2022, Southern Guild has collaborated with House and Leisure magazine to produce a limited edition of custom-designed dust jackets for its Autumn issue (Vol. 4: ‘Build‘). Navel Seakamela‘s “Malapa ga a lekane” II (a charcoal, acrylic and pastel work on paper) adorns the cover of 25 Collectors Edition copies of the publication, available on both Southern Guild’s and the magazine’s stands at the fair. Southern Guild was one of five galleries spotlighted in this way by House and Leisure, which is published by LOOKBOOK Studio and is a media partner of ICTAF 2022.

When House and Leisure‘s ‘Build’ issue hits shelves on 1 March, readers will notice numerous other works by our artists in the publication. Another work by Seakamela is included in a styled photograph of an outdoor room on the cover, while section openers inside display the Rich Mnisi’s Nyoka console and Zizipho Poswa’s Magodi-Fumbi ceramic sculpture.

House and Leisure‘s ‘Build’ issue focuses on how things are constructed – places, products, communities and even collaborations. Honouring shape and form, art and architecture, the issue reimagines the way that we can shape the future, both individually and as a collective.
