Inaugurating Southern Guild’s flagship gallery at the V&A Waterfront’s Silo District in Cape Town, Stellar showcases iconic work by leading African artists and designers, including Andile Dyalvane, Porky Hefer, Cheick Diallo and Hamed Ouattara
Southern Guild opens its new flagship gallery at the V&A Waterfront’s Silo District in Cape Town with an inaugural exhibition celebrating the most lauded local design heroes. Stellar showcases work by 23 South African heavyweights alongside work from artists Cheick Diallo (Mali) and Hamed Ouattara (Burkina Faso) presenting both globally recognised and never-before-seen pieces. The title, a recognition of excellence, speaks to Southern Guild’s own identity, originally inspired by the Southern Cross constellation.
“Stellar represents the highest echelon of collectible design from this country – something we have been building since we founded Southern Guild,” explains gallery co-founder Trevyn McGowan. “It’s a culmination of the work we’ve been doing for nearly a decade with the leading design voices in South Africa.”
