For the third year in a row Southern Guild brings collectible design to the Joburg ArtFair, showcasing distinct one-off pieces from 40 South African designers, including many working in this category for the first time.
For its third annual collection, Southern Guild debuts inspiring design by an extensive line-up of creative practitioners, from established furniture studios and seasoned artists to up-and-coming talents from other disciplines including architecture, fashion, jewellery and craft. These include fashion designer Nkhensani Nkosi of Stoned Cherrie, architect Pierre Swanepoel of StudioMas and artists Conrad Botes and Brett Murray.
This year Southern Guild is honoured to announce its partnership with Arcelor Mittal South Africa, the continents’ premier steel producer. Highlights include John Vogel’s Crop Circle table in jacaranda wood; Gregor Jenkins Engrained, a sculptural plywood cupboard; a new rug collaboration between Paco Pakdoust and Wayne Barker; and a series of ceramic stools and a hanging swing by Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens.
