The three artists will present and discuss their ceramic work, before entering into a panel discussion moderated by art historian Dr Barbara Thompson.
Andile Dyalvane, Madoda Fani and Chuma Maweni will travel to Munich to be part of an artist talk and panel discussion, entitled All Fired Up – Contemporary Ceramics from South Africa, at the Museum Fünf Kontinente (Five Continents Museum) on 25 July.
The event will take place while the three artists are completing their residency at the Academy of Ceramics Gmunden (AoCG) in Gmunden, Austria. This programme is intended to promote the artistic and technical transfer of knowledge between the Gmundner Ceramics Manufactory and internationally renowned ceramists from all over the world.
The three artists will present and discuss their ceramic work, before entering into a panel discussion moderated by art historian Dr Barbara Thompson. With an academic specialisation in African ceramics, Dr. Thompson has been working with His Royal Highness, Duke Franz von Bayern of Bavaria, on the development of his ceramics collection since 1999. Attendees will then have the opportunity to engage directly with the artists during a Q&A session.
